Finding Hope in Times of Despair

For nearly 5 months, the world has watched the genocide of Palestinans in Gaza. Many of us have risen up in these times with our actions and voices because we know in our hearts that what’s happening is deeply wrong.

But knowing how to help in ways that are tangible and effective hasn’t been easy, especially as the situation in Gaza has become increasingly desperate and seemingly hopeless.

Beyond the grief and despair, there’s a unique and powerful opportunity for us to ignite our sacred activism. We must remember that all civil rights victories were won not by governments, but by the people. As such, it has never been more important to tie our roots together and be the revolution.

Individually we are strong, but together we can move mountains. Ní Neart go chur le chéile.
There is no strength without unity.

Radical Love as a Form of Sacred Activism

‘Radical’ is a word that’s been misused and misunderstood. It comes from the Latin word ‘radicalis’ meaning ‘root’, and in the words of Angela Davis, “Radical simply means ‘grasping things at the root.’”

Being radicalized is an appropriate response to what’s happening, and at the roots of this movement there’s a deeply powerful, radical, revolutionary love that we can grasp and hold onto, even in the darkest of times.

We knew a change was coming. We stand now at the precipice of a rebirth for humanity, and we remember that we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

THE FUNDRAISER

This event will raise funds needed to evacuate a family of 14 people out of Rafah to Egypt

The Nabhan family has been displaced multiple times since October 7th, and are now living in tents, surrounded by the sound of bombing, not knowing if they will survive. Aid is being blocked from entering Gaza and there is no food, water, or electricity.

Hamza, who’s only 20 years old, has set up this crowdfunder to help his entire family flee from Gaza, which is an expensive and complex process. It costs $5,000 USD for adults to cross the border into Egypt, and $2,500 for children under 16. This is their last hope, as there is nowhere left to go. They have relatives in Egypt who will take them in, and they plan to get the women and children out of Gaza first as funds come in.

Our goal is to reach the full $50,000 needed for all 14 family members to leave, as well as an additional $7,000 that will allow them to leave more quickly, since the situation is so urgent.

This fundraiser is a unique opportunity to take direct, tangible action NOW, and stand side by side with other heart-led revolutionaries.

Your Hosts

In devotion to the resilience of our Irish ancestors & the people of Palestine

Aoife De Danann

Aoife Lowden is a daughter of Éiriú. Aoife works intimately with the land, elements & ancestors, to bring healing on both an individual and collective level. Aoife has devoted her life to recovering & remembering the ancient wisdom of Éire, through land connection, fire and plant ceremonies, ancestral celebrations, sacred site journeys and living in accordance with the wheel of the year. Aoife has devoted her own life to learning & remembering the traditions and practices of her culture, from language to music & dance, craft to land tending. The prayer that Aoife carries in her heart & work is that we all may remember who we are – as sacred beings, belonging to Earth – and from this place, reclaim our power and sovereignty, act accordingly – to restore balance & equanimity in the world. That we may leave a legacy of beauty, health and prosperity for the generations ahead. Tree by tree, river to ocean, thoughts to words, inspiration to action.

Tara Brading

Tara Brading is a women’s educator, storyteller and songstress, focusing on uplifting nature-based feminine wisdom & ancestral teachings from Ireland & England. She’s been on a journey of remembering and reclamation for over ten years, honoring the earth based feminine wisdom left in her blood and bones. She’s the creator of The Roundhouse, which is an online community that lovingly guides women into nature based feminine wisdom from the Irish traditions. She’s also the creator of Grail Priestess, a deep-dive program that guides women into heartfelt connection with their English heritage. She also runs a variety of other courses, events and workshops that serve thousands of women every year. She journeys to Ireland & England regularly for pilgrimage, and currently lives on the ancestral lands of the Ute and Arapaho people in the mountains of so-called Colorado (USA).

Laura Murphy

Laura Murphy is a poet, activist and healer from the heart of Ireland whose work centres around the ancient Irish poetic practice of Imbas Forosnai. Said to be a gift of the Goddess Brigid, Imbas Forosnai was accessed by the Filí (Seer-Poets of pre-Christian Ireland) to bring healing to society and truth to power. Laura’s Imbas-infused work has been featured in the Abbey Theatre’s critically acclaimed ‘HOME: Part One’, Herstory Light Shows, TG4’s ‘Imeall’, RTÉ documentary ‘Finding Brigid’ and read in Dáil Éireann, Ireland’s Parliament. Laura was the inaugural Poet in Residence at Herstory, the movement illuminating female role-models, she campaigned to make Brigid’s Day a national holiday in Ireland and is an advocate for Palestine, Ireland’s Mother and Baby Home and Magdalene Laundry survivors.

The Ones Who Stand Behind Us

Our inspiration for radical love & sacred activism

Brigid

Brigid was a Goddess of ancient Ireland and later a Christian saint. She’s a triple goddess of healing, alchemy and poetry. Her elements are fire and water. Often depicted with flames coming out of her head, she’s known as ‘The Flame of Éire’ and the Fiery Arrow. The fire represents Her gift of Imbas Forosnai (Illuminated Inspiration), which was said to be bestowed by Her to worthy filí (seer-poets). Brigid’s name means ‘High One’, inspiring us to live from our higher nature; an exalted place of wisdom, strength and love. St Brigid embodied the spirit of Goddess Brigid. Born in 450, She’s an OG revolutionary who courageously championed the rights of women, the poor, animals and nature. She was known for founding the renowned egalitarian community and monastery in Kildare, generosity, ability to generate abundance and to ‘turn back the streams of war’.

Ní neart go chur le chéile (No strength without unity)

Maud Gonne

Maud Gonne was known as Ireland’s Joan of Arc and her movement is a powerful example of what a community of people with fire in their bellies, wisdom in their beings and love in their hearts can achieve. In 1900, she established Inghininidhe na hÉireann (Daughters of Ireland), the radical Irish humanitarian women’s organisation with the aims of re-establishing Ireland’s freedom, promoting the study of Irish literature, language, history, music and art, the support of Irish manufacturing, feeding the poor, advocating for political prisoners and raising money to achieve these aims via The National Purposes Fund. Brigid was the organisation’s patron in her dual aspect as Saint and Goddess.

Spirit of the Land

Ireland is an ancient land. A sacred land which has inspired the making of warriors, scholars, poets, visionaries, mystics and rebels. Our stories and herstory is coloured by joy, pain, victory as well as sorrow. As a people, we have experienced hundreds of years of colonization, genocide and control, and so can relate in great empathy to what is currently occurring in Palestine.

The power of Ireland’s ancient warriorship has always been drawn from the Spirit of the Land, from the sovereignty goddesses, the gods of nature and Éiriú herself. This Spirit is wild and ancient, it is eternal and unbreakable, and regardless of how many attempts were made, it could not be taken from us.

In these times we call to Macha, Morrigan, Medbh, Áine, Brigid, Danu, and Éiriú herself. We call to Dagda, Lugh, Mananánn MacLír, Fionn and Cúchulainn. To rise up and put an end to this genocide. To hold governments accountable. To say ‘’no’’ to capitalistic patriarchal systems which feed off death and destruction.
