FAQ

I would love to join something you're offering, but can't afford it. Do you have payment plan options?

Yes, I generally have payment plan options available for my digital offerings, as well as pay-what-you can for people who are experiencing financial hardship. In the instances that I don’t offer this, I usually offer scholarships instead which are available on an application basis. Please reach out via the contact form for more information about the offering you’re interested in.

I'm looking for book recommendations that explore folklore, myth, and tradition from Ireland, Britain, and beyond, as well as recommendations for ancestral healing and feminine wisdom. Can you help?

Yes, I have a blog post with a book list. Here’s the link!

I'm going to Ireland or England soon on pilgrimage. Can you offer recommendations for places to go and ways to connect with the land in a sacred way?

Pilgrimage is a wonderful and sacred experience, and I get asked this question all the time. Here are two blogs posts that can help you:

SCOTTISH TEACHERS

Dougie Mackay: Is a native Highland storyteller with a passion for tracking key aspects of ancestral cultures through mythology, lore and story. A professional storyteller for over 12 years, he has been mentored by some of Scotland’s finest seanachies, seeking modern applications for these timeless tales.

Eileen Budd: Is a Scottish author, artist and storyteller with over 20 years experience working with national museums. She was raised in Perthshire in a family with a tradition of maintaining oral storytelling practices. Eileen specializes in traditional Scottish folklore, folk traditions, folk objects, origin stories and ancient Scottish legends. She uses storytelling, illustration and historic object handling to help bring these stories to life for a range of audiences, including early years, primary and high school students and adults.

Lana Lanaia: Lives in the Scottish Highlands and is a musician & sound healer known for her ‘crystalline voice’ and ‘music that infuses the heart’. She tends the earth, and creates healing spaces through her music & offerings.

The Shieling Project: “The Shieling Project is an off-grid learning centre in the Highlands of Scotland.  The project is all about outdoor living – from looking after our livestock to making real buildings and weaving baskets to making burgers from the meat we have raised here. You can help with seasonal tasks like planting, making hay, or harvesting the crops. The tradition of the shieling where folk lived outdoors all summer herding the cattle, gives us a window onto the past, but also helps us look forward to a sustainable future. Alongside our schools provision, we offer lots of courses and events throughout the year from craft weeks to family camps.”

Peter Ananin & Bethan Bray: Run a small bark tannery from their croft in Aberdeenshire, where they also facilitate Ancestral Skills Gatherings and courses in Hide Tanning throughout the summer months – reconnecting people to place, and to ancient ways of being and working with the land.

Sam MacLaren: Is of Scottish/Irish heritage and a British Animist, Seer, dancer, Qi Gong practitioner, teacher and Co-founder of Pretani Wisdom Traditions. She has been walking an animistic path for almost her entire life, after having what she now recognises as an ‘awakening’ experience at seven years old. Since then, she has been aware of the reality of the spiritual dimensions and the sentience of the land itself and has spent the last 30 years devoted to researching, remembering, and working to re-establish this ancient relationship with the other-than-human inhabitants of the British Isles.

Tom Langhorne: Tom is best known from his YouTube channel “Fandabi Dozi” and his video series on Highlander survival skills. In this series he looks to rediscover the skills, equipment, knowledge, stories and the relationship between land and nature that people had in the Highlands of Scotland, 300-400 years ago. Tom is also a freelance bushcraft instructor and mountain leader with a background in Ecology.

WELSH TEACHERS

Angharad Wynne: Is a writer and storyteller, a consultant working in the field of culture and creativity, a place-maker and heritage specialist with over 25 years of experience in these fields, working both within Wales, in the UK, Ireland and the US. She is also a writer, speaker and retreat and expedition leader.

Dr Gwilym Morus-Baird: Is a Welsh musician, storyteller, author and teacher. He founded celticsource.online, providing courses on Celtic myth and history. He has worked as a composer, production researcher and consultant, as a fellow at the Library of Congress, Washington DC and was one of the founders of Eos, the Broadcasting Rights Agency for Wales. His YouTube channel is a wonderful resource and I also interviewed him for my Dreaming the Ancestors podcast.

Mhara Starling: Mhara Starling (She/Her) was born in North Wales and raised on Ynys Môn (The Isle of Anglesey). She is a first language Welsh speaker, and a Welsh folk Witch. Mhara’s practice is inspired and informed by the landscape upon which she was raised, and the legends, lore, and spirits of that land. Online she can be found creating content surrounding Welsh folklore, myth, folk magic, and Witchcraft on YouTube, TikTok, Patreon, and elsewhere.

Stella Sheppard: Stella is dedicated to reclaiming ancestral spirituality, mysticism & ancient wisdom traditions from Wales & Britain. She’s a Welsh storyteller & teacher, and can be found on Instagram and Youtube.
